November is National Adoption month and tomorrow is Orphan Sunday! Yes, there are many groups that have some sort of "Sunday" though out the year, but this Sunday is very significant and special to me and to 143 + MILLION orphans!!! Trying to grasp 143,000,000 is hard! Here is an easy way to comprehend it- divide the ENTIRE USA population in half, and that is the number of orphans in the world!
If you are a follower of Christ this should affect you! James 1:27 reminds us that "pure and undefiled religion is caring for orphans..." I challenge each of you to consider how you can impact the life of an orphan! Not every person is called to adopt, but as one of my favorite musicians and new adoptive father Mac Powell (Third Day) says, "Not all are called to adopt, but many more are called than adopt!" We can all help in different ways. Pray that God would use this time during the National Adoption Month to show you how you can care for orphans!
I am praising God that the church I attend will be honoring orphans tomorrow!
