Little man is 3 1/2!!!!

Oh M we love so very much!  You are such a blessing to our family.  This blog has been a little T heavy lately, but yesterday you had a big milestone... 3 1/2!!!  Daddy asked if that means you can drive now, so of course you have been telling everyone that you can now drive.

It is hard to believe that two years ago we were jetlagged because of our trip home from Ethiopia.  Mommy and Daddy were just figuring out what it meant to be parents and you were learning what it meant to be a son.  We all have learned a lot in the last two years.

You are one of the strongest people I know M.  I believe that you have incredible survival skills that kept you alive in ET.  God has done many great works in your life little man.  Your name means, "Who is like the Lord?" and as we watch how you have grown and blown away what Drs. thought you could do you have shown people over and over again that there is no one like Our God!

You are brave! You did such a great job when Mommy and Daddy brought home T.  You were away from us for 13 days and you made it... and gained 2 pounds (now weighing 29 and right at 3 feet tall) so you didn't starve yourself either.  We are so proud of you!

You are such a great big brother.  I know it is very hard for you to share your home, your toys, your mommy and daddy and really everything with T, but you are learning more and more every day how to make it work!

You are so strong!  You recently lifted a 10 pound bag of potatoes in a store and impressed everyone around.

You are wise.  You can sense people's moods and comfort those who are sad and laugh with those who are funny.  Sometimes you use this wisdom to push people's buttons too.

You are athletic.  You can throw and catch a round ball, football, and frisbee quite well... maybe better than me!  You have great agility as well.  You are super flexible and great at flips and rolls.

You are smart. You are learning so much every day.  Letters, your name, address, lyrics to every song, memorizing whole books (and letting us know if we mess up).

You have a beautiful childlike faith.  Your sweet understanding of God, heaven, Jesus, the Bible etc. is very heart warming.  You enjoy telling many people, "The Lord has come."  I am not sure where that came from.  You sing praises to God from morning until night.  10,000 Reasons is your favorite song right now.

You are a book worm.  You love books and can never get enough of your favorites!  You also like the Miss Pattycake CD and now DVD that you got for being 3 1/2.

You are hilarious.  Here are a couple of things you said today that made me laugh and laugh:

We were playing on the bed in mommy and daddy's room.  You were pretending that it was a boat and we all needed to be on it.  Out of the blue you said, "We are in a mouse's butt."  I could not stop laughing because when mommy is tired I laugh at preschool humor which ensures that I will hear much more along the same lines...

Later still on the bed you were talking about the boat driver.  Daddy asked, "Who is driving this boat?" You said, "Noah's Ark."

Also on the bed you said, "Daddy you are the king.  Do king things."  Then you paused and said, "Oh no, there is a sheep running away. Daddy get it."  Again I could not stop laughing as you got shepherds and kings mixed up.  I guess we played a little bit too much with the nativity set this year and some roles got changed.

Tonight at dinner we were eating spicy chickpeas.  It is such a tasty recipe with lots of cumin and tumeric.  You said, "I really like the cinnamon rolls."  You meant the chick peas, but after being corrected you said it again later in the meal.  I like that you don't know the different between spicy chick peas and cinnamon rolls :)  You are a pretty good eater most of the time.  You have become WAY LESS picky than you used to be.  You seem to try everything we eat most nights.  You still eat split peas or lentils each night at dinner with the rest of your meal so that we can ensure you are getting enough protein.

I am so very thankful that God allowed me to be your mommy M.  I am blessed to have you for a son!

I like you and I love you,

Mommy

M at 1 1/2 shortly after coming home.  His tummy is about the same size now as it was then.
Same chair, same boy... two years later!
