A Budding Reader

Sometimes my mind still has a hard time processing that I have two independent readers in my home!  Wow!  How did this happen?  A year ago T was exploring words and asking us what every sign said!  This fall she was tracking right with her peers as far as reading level.  We were very proud of her progress.  This winter we were shocked to attend conferences and learn about her exploding reading abilities.  She jumped many levels in a very short time.  At our school Kindergarten, teachers only test kids through the end of first grade levels.  We learned this winter that she was meeting all those benchmarks and wouldn't be tested the rest of the year.  We are so thankful for her love for books and reading!

Since this post has already headed in a boastful direction I might as well brag on M a bit too.  His last testing showed he (a current 2nd grader) was reading at a 5th grade level.  He cruises through chapter books so quickly and LOVES to take Accelerated Reader tests!

Both of our children struggle in many areas and we praise God that He has given them this gift, the love of reading.  It can't be taken away from them.  It can comfort them and encourage them.  We pray that it will draw them to the Giver through His Word!

T: I love to read now!!!
