Remembering March!

Wow, these pictures are a walk down memory lane.  In some cases, I don't even remember taking them.  Here is a mix of photos that I would have made into several posts, but am now lumping them together so we can more a bit more quickly through the pictures.

Buttercup in his standard spot with Sunshine joining in randomly.

T dressed all in green for St. Patrick's Day.  She also went downstairs early and began painting several things green.

T: I love to start projects in the workroom.
St. Patty's Day buddies!

Jo Saxton posted the below comment after attacks on Asian Americans.  In less than a year we have had to walk and talk with our children through some tricky waters!  I love what Jo says below!

Yes!

This 3rd Grader was trying to do a couple problems in her brother's 5th grade math book.  She did them correctly!

This!  I am so thankful for having the greatest friends!  To journey together is such a gift!

M cruised through his States and Capitals memory work!  I am so proud of him and amazed by just how quickly he can memorize things.  Working on memorizing States and Capitals, poems, and grammar rules was a favorite part of homeschooling him.

M: Memorizing things is easy for me.
T: I asked mom to take a picture of the first bun I did by myself.
Every day is a new opportunity to make a cozy nest for her and a cat or two.

T built this as a little house for the cat.

The cat was placed in the house and walked out.  He walked back in the house and promptly knocked it over.

One more picture, because she really improved quickly.

A rare opportunity to take a picture of my tween!

Installing a ninja course in our basement was one of the best things we have done in 2021.  T loves it and uses it often to burn up some extra energy.  Since the photo below was taken we have added two more red rings to make it more doable for her arm length.

T: It is hard for me to stretch all the way.

On March 21st T and I spotted our first flowers of the spring!!!

T: This means that spring is coming!!

She might be a wild sister, but T's bed beckons the cats when the afternoon sun shines in.

Before Brandon and I were married we would often be on a date and talk about "heart pictures" which are memories we wanted to always hold so our heart would take a picture of them.  Of course this was before smart phones.  Amazingly, now we can take a picture of a heart picture moment and cherish it always.  The picture below doesn't show anything too fancy, but it captures a morning when things were going well at our house.  I was stuffing filters and nose pieces in masks, T was doing handwriting, and M was reading our Lent countdown Scripture of the day.  It was a moment when I felt profoundly thankful for our little life.  We have many challenges and it can be easy to dwell on them, but when we focus on the joys the can be found too!

When your phone captures a heart picture.

My seeds sprouted!

In late March T had an outdoor fun day with the neighbors.  Her mask doubled an a cold weather protector.  Funny story.  As I type this the weather in our area is cold.  Today T chose to wear a mask to an outdoor therapy session because she wanted it to keep her warm.

Looking cute for her local adventure.

T: I love climbing on the rocks.

Little girl and a big lake.

Here are a couple of screen shots to show you a weather variety in late March.  On Monday it looks like precipitation every day.  On Thursday it is almost totally out of the forecast.  It just shows how little extended forecasts can really be trusted.

One day without rain.
One day with rain!

We got a heads up from a neighbor that the fire department was going to use a house down the block as a practice house.  The kids really enjoyed this late night fun watching the fire fighters cut holes in a house.

The practiced entering a burning building (which wasn't really on fire)
The next morning we went back to watch them tear the building down.

It only took a few minutes and they were flat!

T: Mom, please take a picture of my skittles sorting.

We found one moment in a burst when the foam pieces were all standing.

A glimpse of a much older T!

Another day, another nap!

After the whole crazy story of the missing LEGO pieces and reordering them etc, we were opening up another LEGO kit and look what we found!

M: Well, I guess I have some extra parts now.

I really can't beleive it!

I am sitting in my living room with a cat at my feet.  Everything is quiet.  I do not hear "moooom!!!!" being yelled from a different level of the house.  There is no bickering.  I do not hear the sound of a podcast, movie or show.  It is blissful silence.  For the very first time since March 13th 2020 my children are participating in something together away from the home this week!

They have done the summer rec program for years and years so the concept isn't new.  After over 18 months of basically being with them almost 24 hours a day, it feels pretty odd to have them away from me.  My mind is spinning with all the things I want to do and need to do.  Of course blogging is on the list!

Yesterday was my first day without them home and I felt frantic all afternoon trying to get 18 months of things done in one day.  I made a dinner that had way too many steps and dirty dishes. Today I feel a bit more at ease.  I think my to do items are realistic.  I am not sure how long it will be before I give myself permission to just rest.  Hopefully it will happen soon.  Park is weather dependent, and we have many potential rain days coming up, so I think this messes with my ability to really relax.

Hopefully you will be catching some photo posts from me soon!
