Grandparents Arrived!

We headed to Mexico on March 13th, but Brandon's parents arrived on the evening of the 11th.  We were able to celebrate Brandon's Birthday and have some good time together before we left early Sunday morning.

Happy Birthday, Brandon!  43 looks good on you!

Cake and pie and a girl with busy hands!

M:  I just needed one more pic before we took apart the puzzle.

T: I was trying to convince Grandma to swing on the swing.

T: Then she did it!  We are so cute!

I think they are going to have fun while we are gone.

I love watching them play together!

One last family cuddle before we were apart for 14 days!!!!

First two weeks of March

The first two weeks of March feel a bit like a blur.  The weeks before vacation are always pretty intense.  When you have a ministry job you sort of have to work ahead and do a lot of the work that will happen while you are gone so that you have the time off.  I kept telling myself that all the work would be worth it, and it was!

T:  I love to be cozy with Sunshine.  Can you find him hiding in the blanket?

After two Whole 30's I finally had popcorn!

I know this is old news now, but the brilliant idea to help Ukrainians through AirB&B is something I needed to document!
There is good in the world!

A very fancy coffee drink in a fancy glass!

March 5th!  First robin sighting.

The Family Tree Project is very interesting to the cats!

They had a 5 hour playdate (maybe even longer).

M is ready for a trim!

T has been loving piano lessons and writing her own music.

M: I finished this whole puzzle!!!

M played the snare drum at has band concert!

We were very proud.

My parents spotted us in an area paper during our trip there this summer!

Now it is time for some cat pics!

You can tell they are brothers.
He just loves Brandon's lap!

Buttercup:  T made me a new  nest.

They like to be together!  They get along better than their human siblings!

Creating a work out area

In late February and early March, Brandon spent a lot of time creating a new space to work out in the basement.  It was amazing to see the work room/storage area transform to a much more usable space.  I dreamed it would be possible, but it turned out better than even I imagined.  It is almost as if we gained an addition on our home without actually adding on.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was able to eliminate several bins. Once those were gone, and a few things moved to the attic above the garage we had a large open area.  I was just imagining moving the exercise equipment in, but then we realized that that dirtiness of the room could be a real problem.

We decided to paint the walls and lay carpet tiles to really clean up the space.  As usual, we didn't really take any before picture. I am sure at some point we have taken photos in our work room, but I could not easily find them.

In making this post I also realized that we haven't taken any photos of the big area now that it is no longer housing the exercise things.  We have a little living room area and the whole basement functions much better.

I do have a during picture for you.  Brandon did most of the work, but T helped paint a bit.  Sadly she didn't change into paint clothes so her favorite pants now have more character.

T: The white looks so much better than the grey.
In progress, T is checking out the rowing machine.

Brandon created a system to cover the drain so we can still use it can carpet over it.

One view!

The work out area.

The view from the work out area.

The food zone.  I don't like shopping, so when I go I really stock up.

February highlights

After posting many February posts the last several days, I decided to close out February with one more big post of many various events.

T has always eaten ice cream cones by biting off the bottom of the cone first.  It is dangerous, messy, sticky, and fits her personality perfectly.

T: What?  You don't eat this way?
T: See, works perfectly!

Only T would set up camp at the check out station of the brat fry.  I am sure she kept Gary entertained.

T called me to take a picture of her during the bath.  She was totally covered in bubbles!

T: This new bubble bath is pretty intense!

Fancy girl!

Brandon only took one picture of the final trip to the ski hill.  T looks happy here, but she had quite a night.  I suppose this event was bound to happen.  T decided to see what it was like to lick the chairlift.  Of course her tongue stuck.  She ripped it off and asked Brandon if it was bleeding.  I think it hurt quite a bit for a while.  She was glad to get a treat to take her mind off the pain.

T: I was so curious to see what it felt like to have a stuck tongue.  It probably wasn't worth it.

Sunshine:  I like to help Brandon work.

Valentine's Day heart meatloaf!

A little after dinner pastel artwork.

They did a great job!

The cats were QUITE relaxed and so long!

M enjoying Midweek.

She took 20 pics, I kept this one.

Sunshine: It seems like I am always having to help Brandon type things.

Sunshine: I use my paw just like this.  (Brandon has to do a lot of deleting)

February brought another trip to urgent care!  This time M had a super sore throat on a Saturday morning and I didn't want to go the weekend without getting antibiotics.  It wasn't Strep and had to run it's course.  M has now (as I write this in March) had 5 pretty major colds in 2022.  Three of which were bad enough to do covid tests.  He never had covid, but we are learning that when he doesn't mask he gets sick a lot.  In the summer/fall of 2020 when we learned about his health issues and lack of antibodies I remember reading that kids like him often mask to avoid sickness.  The article was written pre-covid.  Anyway, I am quite sure he isn't interested in a life of masking, so we will have to navigate lots of colds I guess.

M: My throat was on fire.

T received LED lights for her Birthday.  They fell down shortly after this picture.

Buttercup:  I like to lay here and survey my kingdom.
Sunrises while walking are my favorite!!!  It was better in real life, but this pic is pretty special!
