Weekends are for Fishing, Ice Cream, and the Beach! Summer Week 10 Part 2

Saturday 8/15:

Did this all really happen over a month ago?  It feels much more recent, but here we are in our third week of homeschooling.  Back on August 15th Brandon took the kids for a fun day of fishing and ice cream.  Now that the kid have lifejackets,  it is so much fun for them to fish on the break wall.  Actually, it was all the rage back in August.  My kids definitely go through phases.

M: It is a pretty nice one!

Sweet Kids

T: I just wanted to touch the water.

There is always one...

Silly girl

T: I love getting wet and taking risks!

After fishing Brandon decided to take the kids to a new ice cream place in town.  It was their first time.  T was eager to try, but M had big feelings and didn't trust the dairy free ice cream to be dairy free.  He came home very upset, but was eventually convinced to try the ice cream and he learned it was pretty good.  I think the kids would go every day if we let them.

T: Ice Cream on a hot day sure is tasty!

Sunday 8/16:
On Sunday after church and lunch we headed north to a new to us beach.  Several other people had the same idea so we felt a little squished in our socially distanced area.  Our Lake levels are so high right now creating very limited amounts of sandy beach.  The beach here was bigger than our local beaches, but not by as much as we were hoping.

T: I love looking for cool rocks.

M and L braved the cool temps for a quick dip.  The sand castle was there when we arrived.

We ended the weekend smiling about how normal everything felt and then questioning if we were safe enough because it felt so normal.  Isn't that the battle of 2020 for every family? Thankfully this weekend was both safe and fun!  What a gift.
