Christmas Eve

Every year it feels like Thanksgiving break starts and then we blink and Christmas Eve is here.  This year was no different.  Last year my family was in town for Christmas Eve.  This year our day was a bit quieter, but still had plenty of laughter, joy, and food.

Charissa and her family came over for our classic Christmas Eve food at noon.  Because they had much of their rehearsal on the 23rd, the meal was a bit more relaxed than other years.  Once everything left we got things cleaned up and headed to the 4:00 service.

The services were lovely and such a special time for our church family to celebrate Jesus birth.  This year I got to play a tiny role in the service. I read a story to the children.  Sally Lloyd Jones (author of "Jesus Storybook Bible") wrote a Christmas story.  It was fun to share it with the children.

We ended up staying after the second service chatting with friends until pretty late.  Thankfully we didn't have too much to do to get things ready for Christmas morning.  We were able to go to bed much earlier this year than last year!
