Safer at Home Week 8

Last week seems like such a blur to me since this week has been so eventful.  Here are some special moments from last week.

T has been enjoying doing school all over the house.  She and Sunshine got in some great school time in her room.  He is such a "Golden Retriever Cat" and lets her lay on him.

T: The videos are all way too long!

Last week M had a surprise delivered to our house.  He (and all the 4th graders and Lincoln) received special yard signs celebrating their graduation from elementary school.  It is such a tricky time for kids who will be switching schools in the fall.  Little gestures like this mean so much for M and for our family!

M: I was so excited to see my sign.

Speaking of special gestures, the middle school he will be attending next year has a window full of hearts.  Seeing this each day on my walk brings joy to my soul!

Speaking of joy to my soul, the library wrote and illustrated a book on the sidewalk through the entire library block.  It is awesome.  There was another book done by the middle school which the kids were able to check out.  It will be coming in a future blog post.

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" on the sidewalk

Last week we had a very special mail delivery.  Both kids received their first piano lesson books.  M is doing the advanced beginner series so he can speed through things.  T will most likely be starting in the fall, and she will start at the primer level.

Fun mail!!!

Last Friday (the 8th) it started snowing!!!  We tried to get a pic with the kids, but it is tricky to capture falling snow.

M and T:  We were not impressed.

The snow accumulated a tiny bit on the patio chairs.  Thankfully it was all melted by midmorning.

Can you see our May snow?

T spend much time last week working on Mother's Day projects.  She was really into paint splattering.  This made major messes in our kitchen.  She did these projects multiple days.  Buttercup decided to lay right on her masterpiece last Saturday morning.  I have been wondering about if paint remained on his coat and if licking that could be the root of his problems.  It is watercolor paint though, so it seems unlikely.

The kids had a lot of time with Brandon last Saturday morning.  I went on a walk and then stopped in at the parking lot socially distanced support group for adoptive moms and of course ended up staying for a couple of hours.  It was lovely to talk with three other mamas who know just how I am feeling and we can all laugh together.  I am so thankful for my tribe.

Buttercup:  I like to be where the people are!

While I was out M and Brandon played the NFL board game.  Brandon destroyed M, but M remained regulated and mature in his loss so he came out a winner in the end!

Saturday morning football!

Also on Saturday morning T created a LEGO restaurant.  She called it " Sharkitect" like architect. She also made LEGO people that looked like our family and friends.  Sadly we didn't get a picture of the people.

T: Would you like to eat at Sharkitect?

On Saturday afternoon we did some furniture moving in the front room.  We are still needing to move a couple of things and sadly I didn't take any pics of the process.  T was very excited to see the possibilities. M was sad to leave the look he knew, but he has admitted that he likes the new set up and he thinks the cats like it too.
