Thirty Thousand Dollar Box!

Back in February M was approved by Children's Hospital to begin growth hormone injections.  The Dr. there told us that M had fallen off his curve and that his adult height projections were getting shorter than previously.  We didn't want to hear this news and were elated to hear that he was a candidate for the injections.  We learned that getting insurance approval would not be an easy task.  Children's would reach out to our insurance and they would most likely reject us so then we would wait for the pharmaceutical to reach out to us.  We learned pretty quickly about our insurance rejection, but heard nothing from the pharmaceutical company.  In April we switched insurances and I called Children's to find out what was going on and discovered that they dropped the ball and nothing had happened.  Our new insurance company rejected us and we quickly were able to apply to the pharma.  They sadly rejected us too saying that they were no longer taking any patients from our insurance company basically as of that week.  I let the waters cool and called back a month later.  Later that day I heard from the pharma rep and she said we had been approved!  This was great news.  She said the meds would be shipped to us that week and she arranged for a nurse to come to our home and train us on injections.  M started injections on June 27th!  Things are going well and we are so proud of him.

Growth hormone is not cheap.  The first shipment that came was about $30K of meds.  It is crazy that it was just sitting on our front porch one day.   It is hard to believe that we are almost due for our second expensive delivery.
One expensive delivery!
What $33K looks like in our fridge!

You know something is fancy when the cooler for travel looks like an armored car!
